      Belief Systems During the Cultural Revolution

            During the Revolution religion was banned and no one was allowed to worship any gods. As a result the temples and churches were burned and destroyed and people caught worshipping a god would be severely punished. But people still worshipped someone like a god and that person was Chairman Mao.

            When Chairman Mao liberated China he became a national hero to everyone, when he started the revolution everyone loved the idea because It was Mao’s idea. When Mao Zhedong announced he was going to speak at Beijing all the Red Guards rushed to Beijing just to hear him speak, this showed people were completely loyalty to him.

            Also people had Mao’s Little Red Book which was like their bible and was written by Chairman Mao and filled with his quotes. When the Red Guards went to Beijing they all had the book and waved it in the air. Mao had songs written for him and everyone loved him and he is who everyone believed in.
