Da-Zi-Bao poster appear all over China!

All over China the students are writing Da Zi Bao to criticize their teachers and posting them all over their schools. The Da Zi Bao are writings on posters that say very nasty things about the teacher and they are posted all over the schools. Many Da Zi Bao said that the teachers were terrible and they were teaching the students the fourolds. An example of these posters is in Shanghai at Xin Er Primary School where the students are using their school time to create these posters. This has been going on since the start of the Revolution and it doesn;t seem like it is going to end soon. The Da Zi Bao seemed to have started when Chairman Mao said to get rid of the fourolds.

When Chairman Mao told China to get rid of the fourolds: old ideas, old habbits, old customs and old culture, all the schools started to write the Da Zi Bao. The reason that Mao Zhedong wanted to get rid of the fourolds was because he wanted China to modernize and to not get stuck in the past. Many people changed and stopped getting involved with the fourolds; but the people did not give the teachers a chance to change and started to write the Da Zi Bao. Most teachers were to afraid to go to school and others were being punished or denouncing their old ways even if they did nothing wrong which was true for most teachers, but the revolution has to continue.

A student from Shanghai named Li Feng shared his thoughts and opinions with us and here is what he said “I think these Da Zi Bao are great, we get to tell our teachers everything they have done wrong. We use our school time to make these and we also get to write about some of the black students we have in our class. Also we are helping with the Revolution and most importantly helping Chairman Mao.”

Jin Yu who has a friend and a brother that are both teachers disagrees and feels Da Zi Bao are wrong and the teachers should be treated with respect. “When I was younger I always looked up to my teachers and they never taught anything wrong to me and they did not teach the children the fourolds to purposely trick them they did it because it was part of the school curriculum. The Da ZI Bao are evil and should have never been written.”
